Antony Simpson

antony_logo_newA few years back, I was asked by Antony to create some menu icons for his personal antonysimpson.com. Back then, the icons represented different sections of the blog which were accessible by clicking on these icons in the menu. Each icon had a corresponding ’hover’ imagine. By that I mean the image changed when the mouse hovered over the icon.

When Antony changed his web site design, he then reused the icons as a tiled background which is what you currently see when you go onto his blog. Over Christmas I created some more custom artwork for his site, which has since gained popularity as a literary review blog, usually getting around 3000 unique visitors, and between 65,000 and 85,000 hits a month. The logo currently featured in his header was adapted from a portrait of the man himself. Antony is currently working on some creative writing projects which I am quite excited to engage with; he is a wonderful client.

The work consisted of redesigning a previous set of icons I made some years ago, more in line with the way in which his web site and client base has grown since. As Antony’s blog is a personal one as well as an outlet for his professional journalism and creative writing, we wanted to go with something more cartoonish and brightly coloured to reflect the sites approachable and ease in readability.

Antony’s full testimonial:

“I commissioned Sye for a logo, a number of small icons and some help to implement them in my wordpress design my personal blog (www.antonysimpson.com). Sye was flexible, a really good communicator and very creative. Sye was fairly priced and completed the work by the deadline and at the agreed cost. Sye is a truly talented illustrator, brilliant web designer and I intending on using him again on further projects. I would recommend Sye without any hesitation and have already done so to a number of people. Sye is a born creative with various other talents and skills which make him able to offer: performing arts (comedy, drama, etc.) workshops and circus skills workshops. Having seen him deliver a number of workshops to young people I have seen him use his approachability and sense of humour to engage well with young people delivering not only the workshops commissioned to do so but other informal education as well. If you want to know more about my experience with Sye please don’t hesitate to contact me. Kind Regards, Antony”
